• Welcome to the blog of Luxe Fête Event Planning and Design Studio. My name is Nathalie Cadet-James and I am an event planner and designer. This blog is a place where you can connect with me, check out my latest projects and designs, and hopefully be inspired to create your dream wedding or event. I love designing and planning magical events. Before channeling my creative energy into this field, I was an attorney at top law firms and clerked for a Federal Judge. It did not take long to realize I’d rather be telling stories by transforming spaces and creating beautiful atmospheres. I am fortunate to be considered an "industry innovator" and “event guru” because of my unique and fresh design approach. You can find our work featured in many of today’s premier design and bridal publications. I proudly call the Magic City of Miami my home as well as my inspiration. The Miami of today offers far more than just sun and fun. Miami is truly a world class destination, rich with history, culture, food, music and philanthropy. I am honored to serve on the Executive Committee of Friends of the New World Symphony and the Overtown Music Project. Thanks for stopping by, I'd love to hear from you! And yes, we happily travel anywhere in the world. - Nat

I’m on the Radio Ya’ll!

This morning I had the honor of being a guest on the legendary Jill Tracey’s Love Life & The 411 Show on Hot 105. I shared some of my secret tips for throwing a fabulous holiday party. We also dished on some other fun stuff (she’s got the scoop on EVERYTHING). Listen below. Tell me what you think! Somebody pinch me. XOXO.

Here is the clip that aired live on the James T. Morning Show [click on photo]:

And our extended clip on Jill’s popular Love Life & The 411 podcast starts at the 22:45 mark [here]. Um Puff Daddy and Cameron Diaz? Really? Find out more on her Podcast. She is hilarious.

P.S. Thank you Claudette!

Morgan - Great show! But I guess they’re not secrets if you tell them on the radio ;)

Meeting Diane von Furstenberg

I met Diane von Furstenberg over the weekend and my cheeks still hurt from smiling so much. She was in town for the launch of her seductive fragrance, Diane – a truly sophisticated and beautiful scent appropriately named. During a private cocktail reception, she looked at me, smiled, gave me a hug and told me, “I remember that dress so well, you look beautiful.” I really did not know what to do with myself. But as the night progressed, three things became very clear.

First, all I had to do was be myself. As Diane put it, the most flattering thing a woman can wear is confidence. We spoke many times after that and I was perfectly at ease, feeling as if I was speaking with an old friend. Second, Diane is a woman that everyone is instantly drawn to and it is not because she is a former princess, a fashion icon or a billionaire, but it is because her confidence and grace comes from within. Lastly, a woman who is compassionate, giving and intelligent is very powerful. That is the woman I want to be.

To cap off the evening I had a beautiful and inspiring dinner with three equally impressive ladies: Anne Owen, Publisher of Miami Magazine, Katy Stoka, Sales Director of the W South Beach and Anastasia Koutsioukis, Owner of the Mandolin Aegean Bistro. Girl power rocks. [roar].

P.S. Miami Modern Magazine and Saks Fifth Avenue Bal Harbour know how to throw one heck of an affair!

The lady herself, DVF.

I was so happy to meet her. Photos by Brett Hufziger.

I need this DVF dress. Might as well throw in the glasses too.

Must See Father Daughter Dance

This is a super cute father and daughter dance. It reminds me of how happy my father was during our special moment. At one point my dad did some sort of impromptu dance split. We danced to the song I was named after, Nathalie by Gilbert Bécaud, one of his favorites. I miss him so much and am grateful for that moment. How sweet it will be when Brian dances with our girls in many many many many years from now. BUT – they better not pull any stunts like the one below. Brian will enter from stage left at 8:31 p.m. to join our daughter who will be standing in the right quadrant, left foot in front of right, hands slightly on hips. At 8:31.5 he will twirl her to the center, where the song I approve will commence. He will do the same when the other gets married. Just kidding – well, maybe not.

Jack Barrett - One of the best dances I’ve seen since my DJ career began –so much creativity!
I’m used to getting requests for warm inviting songs like “Always Daddy” and “I Hope You Dance”
This is quite different not a lovey dovey type but fun anyway

Not much to say about this couple’s portrait except, “Wow.” This is brilliant Clayton.
