Wonderland: The Bride’s Look

Nothing says Alice in Wonderland more than movement. This beautiful Rivini dress from Chic Parisien certainly has movement and whimsy. Did you notice the trend at the Oscar’s this year? Timeless beauties Demi Moore and Jennifer Lopez rocked exaggerated ruffles like nobody’s business. Needless to say our model would not be complete without her piece de resistance (or several of them) – the Maria Elena Headpiece and accessories. The satin-interlaced crystal headpiece and bracelet is so bohemian chic and the stunning crystal clutch is sheer gorgeousness. Um . . . I think I am having to much fun playing dress up and stylist!

Wonderland: Furniture Vignettes

Using unique furniture in your wedding will definitely set yours apart from the rest. It is also a wonderful opportunity to create vignettes that photograph beautifully. For our Alice in Wonderland Photo Shoot we used furniture from the amazing collection of Nuage Designs. Pablo and his team (Sarah, Carolina and Maria) are just the best! Our organic welcome area invited guests to lounge on the modern Louis furniture accented with purple satin pillows. How cute is this Alice in Wonderland guestbook set on the chic table from India? And did you see the chairs for the tablescape? I am l-o-v-i-n-g them. Bet you anything these “Louis Pop” chairs are the next rave in the world of high-end wedding design!

Wonderland. The Invitation

How special do you feel when you lay hands on a “fancy looking” invitation? Exactly. It matters. And what does the amazing Alice in Wonderland invitation suite by couture designer Lindsey Luxa of Dragonfly Custom Design say? It’s screams, “YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS THIS OH SO LUXE WEDDING!” I can spend hours pouring over the fine details and styling elements she created for this photo shoot. I love, love, love the bold use of the intense purple and green. Just so regal. And anyone who knows me, knows I am a sucker for natural and organic materials — such a grounding element. But what I think is most genius, however, is how Lindsey played with the Alice in Wonderland theme in such a grown-up and sophisticated manner:

The invitation was nestled in a silk box constructed of deep purple and iridescent green silks. The body of the invitation was set on a deep purple silk pad with a layer of iridescent green silk, natural fiber paper and dark purple paper. Just love the exterior wrapping in a wide green satin ribbon with twine.

The antique pewter key tied with purple ribbon is so clutch!

The save the date language, “Don’t be Late for a Very Important Date” helped establish the overall whimsical Alice in Wonderland theme.

Escort cards were printed on iridescent paper, backed in bright purple stock and tied to antique spoons using twine. And instead of a traditional table number, Lindsey incorporated an antique pendulum clock pointing to a corresponding hour, in this case 2:00 p.m.. What is really cute is how the escort cards led the guests to Table No. 2 using a clock face.

Lindsey made these darling signs using hand white-washed wood that was laser etched with Victorian graphics. Very Lewis Carroll, wouldn’t you agree?

The menus directly mimicked the invitation. A vintage “Menu” illustration, as well as tea pots and cups tied seamlessly to the theme.

The delicious favors were hand-made Jordan almond flowers with purple centers and green stems and leaves. They were finished with thoughtful small tags that said “Thank You.”

Isn’t it spectacular how she put it all together!! So of course you know we will be sitting down and chatting with ever so talented Ms. Lindsey later on this week. I must pick her brain on the latest trends in wedding invitations. Be sure to join us. You are cordially invited . . .

I can’t get over how amazing our Wedding in Wonderland concept was captured. Stacey and Craig of Ambrosio Photography really knocked it out of the park. Every single element, from the stunningly chic invitation suite, to the magical cake, her romantic gown, the beautiful accessories, the whimsical linens, the lush location, the artful food – all of it – just amazing. In the next few weeks we will chat with the super-talented folks who helped us create our Wedding in Wonderland. No doubt you will be inspired for your special day! That old saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words” rings so true here, so without further ado . . .

I remember how I felt when I first read Alice in Wonderland. Despite the dizzying movement and absurdities, I could not help but be drawn into the fantasy world of the amazing characters and their adventures. There is not a street corner in Miami today that is not blanketed with a zany Alice in Wonderland poster in anticipation of the upcoming release of Tim Burton’s remake of the movie. So I thought, why not have a little fun on our end too with Alice in Wonderland? The story provides such rich inspiration for a whimsical wedding. I soooooooooooooooooo can’t wait to share the magical pictures from our Wonderland photo shoot captured BEAUTIFULLY by Ambrosio Photography. We worked with the best of the best to truly create a dream wedding for our fictitious couple, Gabrielle Dorne and Jean-Marc Rosarion. I am sure you will love their WONDERLAND wedding so be sure to check back very soon!
